Twenty Days.

That's how many days it's been since I last posted.  I suppose I should feel bad, but I just haven't had anything to write about.  I said I read a lot during the summer and I do, but this summer is different.  This summer I've been reading stories from the internet that young aspiring authors have written. And I must tell you, I'm impressed.

Some of the writers are very good at it and can obviously do a wide variety of genres.  I'm in awe of them, and then I see shit.  Just absolute shit that some people try to pass on as work.  And I suppose I should take mercy on them because they are novice, but I feel none.  When you have a finese for something you have it and when you don't you don't.

P.S. Don't mix sleep aids and alcohol.  JUST DON'T.

  1. Ok, the P.S. needs to worry someone.
On another note that sort of goes along with your original comments. I have been reading a lot of new to me authors on my Nook this year. I have been enjoying the diversity that comes with the B&N Free Friday selections.
I wonder though, do people see the same editing problems in paper back books that I am seeing in e-Books? If you write much you know what can happen when you put down a sentence and then modify it. Sometimes one of the original words stays when it should have been removed. I am seeing a bunch of that. Also, paragraphs that don't start with capital letters.
Is this bad editing or none at all? Even self published books should have been written with grammar and spell check turned on!
    So that is my rant.
Have a great day where you are. Here near home it shouldn't hit much of 80. :)

    1. I agree! It seems that in all forms of writing there will be errors of some sort. Especially the self published works. Those are the worst.
I'm in Texas right now, so it's pretty far above 80. Haha.

  3. Most things don't mix well with alcohol. At least you've learned this/seen it happen to someone now so you won't find out in a worse situation in college or something like that.

I agree with the grammar stuff. I have a bad habit of writing in a more conversational tone, and then the bad habit of not being able to see my own mistakes. I make do with rereading and spell check for stuff that goes on my blog (not the one that this account links to, same blog, but I moved it to wordpress. Still inactive right now). However, if I ever self-published my novel, I would have to hire an editor prior to putting it out there.
